Data collection and market research in Singapore

Singapore is one of Orient Pacific Century's most active regions, with our Singapore based field staff providing data collection for the retail, travel, telecommunications, aviation, educational and trade export industries. Many of these projects have included our full complement of data collection and market research methods including focus groups, intercepts, telephone surveys, online surveys, and depth interviews.

Singapore has a relatively small population of consumers, though they are highly tech savvy, with high levels of real income and discretionary income. English is universally spoken and understood at all levels. Around 75% of Singaporeans are Chinese, who also speak various Chinese dialects, with smaller populations of Malays and Indians and a well recompensed expatriate population. Being a city state, the population is 100% urban and travel costs for research internally are minimized.

Like Malaysia, Singapore has strict controls on data collection and business operations.

Data collection and market research costs in Singapore are relatively high compared to Malaysia and Thailand, and almost as high as South Korea and Taiwan not counting translation costs, due to living and overhead operational costs. However the lack of a need for translation in most cases means data collection in Singapore remains reasonably priced, especially in relation to the affordability of Singapore consumers. The relatively small population means that opportunities exist for broad appeal consumer products and luxury goods.
