Joining our market research field force

Guidelines and application for part time and casual field force employment

Orient Pacific Century invites applications from those who wish to join our market research field forces in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and through our partners in South Korea, China, Japan and Indonesia.

Our research field force is a key component of Orient Pacific Century service, providing on the ground data collection through face to face interviews, phone interviews, street and shopping centre intercepts as well as mystery shopping and mystery customer methods. At present there are no vacancies for focus group moderators.

While our field supervisors are full time, our field workers are part time and casual, allowing us to select the most qualified for each assignment from a wide range.

The following form is the ONLY way to apply to be on our field force. Please read the following information before applying.

Applicants undergo our basic training sessions, held quarterly to half yearly in capital cities. Sometimes these are held at other times when circumstances dictate. These sessions are around 4 hours, and incorporate role play training. There is also some home reading required beforehand and final approval is subject to successful completion of an exam and test at finalisation. These sessions are not subject to payment, but provide a useful general training experience in data collection procedures.

Basic training and specific briefings for mystery shopping and mystery customer assignments are more intensive, providing training in observational research and live trials.

Before each project, selected field force personnel undergo a specific briefing of around 2 to 3 hours, again focusing on experiential learning and role plays.

All payment is based on a piece rate, (e.g. per successful interview or visit), and we guarantee clients that 5% of all interviews will be validated by a research supervisor. However for new field workers, this incidence is increased to 15% plus personal review of performance. Only validated and correctly completed interview forms will be recompensed.

Please note our most successful field workers are housewives, house-husbands and students. Fieldwork is a nice way to earn part time and casual income but is not a replacement for full time employment! Our rates are similar or slightly higher than for other local research agencies in your area.

After successfully completing 50 hours of field work, closely supervised and positively evaluated by our field supervisors, you will be promoted to senior field worker and your rates will increase by 25% to 50%.

Applicants must be aware of and agree to a background check, due to the often highly confidential nature of some assignments.

Applicants are required to sign a non-disclosure and confidentiality agreement, which precludes you from discussing data you collect with non-company personnel up to a period of at least 2 years after completion. Some assigments require longer periods or differing requirements.
